National Broadband Initiative in U.S. Supported by Connected Nation

Key funding for the National Broadband Mapping initiative was provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, otherwise known as the “stimulus plan.” Supporting the effort is a nonprofit organization called Connected Nation, dedicated to “expanding access to and use of broadband Internet and the related technologies that are enabled when individuals and communities have the opportunity and desire to connect. Editor in Chief Joe Francica contacted two individuals familiar with the effort to get a more in depth understanding of its mission.

Internet upgrades keep rural Iowans in loop
